About OpenCarbon

OpenCarbon exists because most people who want to offset their carbon footprint have no way to check whether what they bought actually did anything. You pay, you get a badge or a certificate PDF, and you have to take it on faith. We think that's backwards for a market that has already had real scandals — the Guardian and Die Zeit investigation into overcounted Verra rainforest credits being the best-known one. So instead of asking you to trust a logo, we show the registry retirement itself, the scoring inputs behind every project, and we say plainly where we're uncertain.

That's also why OpenCarbon is a curated marketplace, not an open listing service — every project has to clear our Core Score review before it's offered, not just registry approval.

Founders

Axel van Raath, Founder. [Add a short bio, LinkedIn link, and photo here.]

[Second founder — name and bio pending internal sign-off before this goes live with a name attached. Remove this placeholder once resolved.]

Advisors

[This is where a genuine advisory board — someone with a background in carbon markets, climate science, or Dutch financial regulation — goes. An unnamed team is one of the biggest trust red flags in this category; don't leave this section as a placeholder for long.]
